Swigglers

 A Revolutionary War Canteen

The swiggler is also called the runlets or rounlet.

In researching buckets and other wooden containers we found the swigglers at Valley Forge Museum.  They hold around 12 ounces.  Liquor was stored in the swiggler and taken on the field.  The soldier was given a swig, hence the name, to help kill the pain.  The liquor was also used as an antiseptic on the wounds.

We have 3 styles- metal bands--$65.00

bark bands--$ 55.00

 without bands-- $45.00
