Pioneer Butter Churn
As America prospered and grew in the 1800's, steel became more easily accessible, and steel-banded butter churns like this one became more commonplace. This plunger-style churn (as compared to the end-over-end barrel churn) would have appealed to the American pioneers due to its size and portability. Our churn is given a natural oil finish; it comes complete with plunger and a specially-built two-tier lid. Height of churn: 18"; overall height (with plunger): 36"; Diameter: 9" bottom, 8" top. Capacity approx. 2.5 gallons.
