The Cooper and His Family

Beaver Buckets has used the talents of each one of our family.  Jim is a self-taught cooper.  He first saw a cooper making a bucket in 1990.  When he tried to make a bucket he found that it was much more difficult than he realized.  By trial and error and reading he improved with each bucket made.   Jim was a carpenter.  Coopering became a hobby.  By 2001 he was so busy with his hobby that he was working full time doing what he enjoyed most.   Beaver Buckets was named for the beavers who cut down the trees one year, then saplings grow up in their place.  Jim cuts down the sapling for the bands of buckets.  Jim says, " The beavers get the first bite out of his business."  Jim is currently researching Viking and Norsemen buckets.  He is looking at patterns for shaving horses to add to the website.  (More photos and information.) Marilyn takes orders, does the bookwork and helps in the shop when needed.  She updates the website and works with shipping.

We never cease to be amazed at what God does in our business.  "I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised...He said," Surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me; and so He became their Savior."  Isaiah 63:7, 8
