War of 1812 Canteen
This type of canteen was issued by the US Army during the War of 1812. Today it is known as the "cheese box canteen" due to its shape. The canteen is 8 1/4" in diameter, 2 5/8" thick, color is blue-black with red-stenciled lettering that reads "U.S." Both ends or "heads" are flat. It's a replica of one on display at the Smithsonian Institute. A must for all War of 1812 collectors and re-enactors. Comes with a 72" x 1 1/2" cotton webbing strap.
